Apparently she succumbed to a heart attack while preparing her midday meal, as she was found lying dead on the floor near her gas range in which the gas was still burning in the oven in which were the charred remains of a dinner. For the last four years, Mrs. Rauch had been living alone. The discovery of her death was made by a woman who came to her home every evening to spend the night with her. She was born in Meyersdale, the youngest child of the late Dr. U. M. and Mary Beachly, nearly 73 years ago. She was educated in the Meyersdale public schools and Prof. John D. Meese's Meyersdale Academy. Before her marriage to Dr. Kimmel Rauch, a young medical practitioner in Meyersdale for several years, she was engaged with an older sister, Miss Grace Beachly, in the millinery business in the building now occupied by the Pennsylvania Electric Co., on Center Street. Shortly after their marriage, Dr. and Mrs. Rauch moved to Johnstown where he died in 1909, after they had been married only four years. Dr. Rauch was a very fine man and popular physician. They were a very happy and devoted couple. Her husband's untimely death was not only a great sorrow to her but also to many friends. After her husband's death Mrs. Rauch went to Cleveland, Ohio, to live with a sister, Mrs. Emma Berkley. They established a home in Lakewood, a suburb of Cleveland, where she spent the rest of her life. After Mrs. Berkley's death some years ago, another sister, Anna, the widow of Dr. C. W. Walker, of Plymouth, Ohio, lived with her until her death four years ago. Mrs. Rauch is survived by one brother, E. M. Beachly, Pittsburgh, oldest member of the Dr. U. M. Beachly family; three nieces, Mrs. Charles S. Evans, Ebensburg; Mrs. Emma Pringle, Portage, and Mrs. David Reese, Johnstown; and two nephews, William and Frank Beachly, sons of E. M. Beachly, both in the armed forces of the United States. Two of the nieces went to Lakewood, Ohio, and had the remains of their aunt brought to Meyersdale for interment in the family lot in Union Cemetery. Burial arrangements here were in charge of W. C. Price and Son. The body, on arrival here this Thursday afternoon was taken immediately from the train to the cemetery for committal to the grave by Rev. Kenneth B. Ashman, pastor of the Main Street Brethren Church, of which Mrs. Rauch's parents were charter members. The following relatives and friends of the deceased gathered at the cemetery for the final rites: Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Beachly, Pittsburgh; Former Judge and Mrs. Charles S. Evans, and their son, Charles, and daughter, Mrs. Frank Whitman, Ebensburg; Mrs. Emma Pringle, Portage; Mr. and Mrs. David Reese, Attorney Andrew Creighton, Miss Myrtle Walters, Miss Bird Kinkead and Mrs. H. R. Knepper and daughter, Mrs. Edward Rae, Johnstown; Mrs. Mary O. Cook, Miss Kate Olinger, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Fike, Mrs. Fanny G. Lichty and others, Meyersdale. Meyersdale Republican, March 16, 1944
