Jr. 04/24/08 The New Republic August 28, 1926 April 21, 2008 James A. Ravenscroft, Jr., 81, of Meyersdale, died April 21, 2008 at Golden Living Center. He was born August 28, 1926, Sand Patch, a son of the late James A. and Ruby Viola (Hoover) Ravenscroft, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Nightingale Ravenscroft and granddaughter Crystal Ravenscroft, these brothers and sisters: Merle, Charles, Bernard, Alice McKenzie, Shirley Leasure, Mabel Crissinger, Ruth Elaine Pugh, Norma Jean Lottig and Janice Ravenscroft. He is survived by these children: James W., Jerry A., Carole Klink and Kathy Hetrick, all of Meyersdale. Also survived by grandchildren: Michael Wilt, Jodi Henry, Scottie Steinly, Kristen Berkey, Jeremy Ravenscroft; twelve great grandchildren. Brother of Sara Smith, Ohio, LaVerne Frank and Blaine Ravenscroft, both of Baltimore, Md. He was employed by Delta Mining Company for 45 years, veteran of U.S. Army, member of Church of Jesus Christ, Palo Alto and member of Meyersdale American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and gardening. Friends will be received Thursday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at M.
