He was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Barbertown, Ohio, son of the late Marcellus and Helen Ravenscroft. He was raised by his grandparents, Howard and Sara (Lenhart) Ravenscroft of Sandpatch. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Hall; and three sons, Mark, San Diego, Calif.; Steven, Essexville, Mich.; Kevin, at home. Also survived by one grandchild, Angela; and one brother, Alvy Ravenscroft, Meyersdale. He was the fire chief of the Ohiopyle - Stewart V.F.C. for 15 years; a previous member of the Ohiopyle Borough Council, a member of the VFW, Fort Necessity Post, a treasurer of the Yough Valley Ambulance Corp., troop representative 35 of A troop 667. He was a member of the railroad union B.R.A.C.; a deacon of the Fall City Baptist Church; former school director of the Ohiopyle District; veteran of World War II in the Pacific theater; operator of the Ohiopyle Water Co., and an employee of the Chessie System for 35 years. Friends were received at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where services were held with the Rev. Dr. Earl P. Confer officiating. Interment, Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
