She had been in poor health for some time, and on Nov. 1st received a paralytic stroke which made her unconscious and helpless. The next day she received another lighter stroke, but by Monday morning she rallied slightly, and for a while was able to open her eyes, and for a short time seemed to recognize those about her, and could faintly whisper; but last Saturday a cerebral hemorrhage ended her earthly career. Mrs. Reckner was born in Elk Lick Township, and with the exception of a few years that she and her husband resided at Jerome, all of her life was lived within a few miles from where she was born. She was a daughter of the late John and Lizzie Grine Tipton, and is survived by her husband and these children: Eva, wife of Albert Layton, and Ethel, wife of Arthur Williams, of Jenners; William C. of Elk Lick Township; Ellie, wife of Ed Manners of Brookville; Florence, wife of George Carico, Harry, Theodore and Albert, all of Jerome; Leroy of Salisbury, and Frank at home. Several other children preceded her in death, and she is also survived by a brother, Milton Tipton of Listie. Mrs. Reckner was a good wife and mother, and that alone comprises many virtues. However, she had many other traits of character that made friends of those she came in contact with. Her funeral service was held at the Funeral Home of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas of Salisbury, and was conducted by the Rev. A. J. Replogle, assisted by Rev. Merriman of Ebensburg. Interment was in the Salisbury I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, November 13, 1941
