Reckner, retired farmer, aged 78 years, died at his home, in Fayette County, Pa., near Confluence, Jan. 8th. He was the son of William H. and Elizabeth Reckner and spent his entire life on the farm on which he was born. He was married to Miss Arminta Brenneman, who passed away March 24, 1937. Surviving are eight daughters - Mrs. Clyde Bowlin, Mrs. C. C. Show, Mrs. K. H. Silbaugh, Misses Mary and Hazel of Confluence; Mrs. M. W. Schaefer, Grantsville; Mrs. Dewey Sluss, Baltimore, and Miss Grace Reckner, Uniontown. A foster son, Edward McCracken is in the U.S. Army, overseas. Surviving also, are three brothers, John and Calvin of Confluence, and Amos Reckner of Bittinger, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Sproul of Ohiopyle, Pa., and Mrs. Eva Kelley of Uniontown; 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Reckner was a member of Johnson Chapel Methodist Church, where funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 11, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. George Burnworth, of Uniontown, assisted by Rev. W. Clendenen of Confluence, and Rev. J. Rodehaver of Harnedsville, conducted the services. They spoke of Mr. Reckner's life in the community and his kindness to his family and friends. He held several public offices in his early life, and was a highly respected citizen. Mrs. Reckner's nephews acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in the Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
