Reckner, 61, of Martinsburg, W.Va., formerly of Emlenton, a longtime Church of the Nazarene pastor, died Nov. 28, 2001 at the Northwest Medical Center at Franklin following an illness. Rev. Reckner was born Aug. 11, 1940 in Ohiopyle. He was he son of Helen May Groff Reckner of Ursina, and the late Orville T. Reckner. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville T. Reckner, Who died Jan. 12, 1975. He is survived by his wife, B. Louise Thomas Reckner, whom he married in Aiken, S.C., on July 17, 1959; two sons and their wives, Edward James and Wanda Reckner, Bath, S.C., and Orville W. "Bud" and Jennie Reckner, of Karns City; two daughters and their husbands, Brenda Lee and Mst. Sgt. Patrick Guillet, Ft. Hood, Texas, and Helen Ruth and Christopher Roxby, Petersburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Brother of, James 0. Reckner of Harrisburg, Mrs. Mark (Loretta) Beach, Somerset, Mrs. Darrell (Linda) Nicklow, Orbisonia, and Mrs. Chester (Cindy) Bittinger, Somerset. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rev. Reckner was a 1958 graduate of Turkeyfoot Valley High School at Confluence and a graduate of the Nazarene Bible College at Colorado Springs, Colo. He first pastored The First Church of The Nazarene in Port Alleghany, serving there from 1979 to 1984. From 1987 to 1993, he pastored the St. Petersburg Church of the Nazarene, St. Petersburg, Pa While pastoring in St Petersburg, Rev. Reckner was instrumental in starting the A-C, Valley Ministerium. Rev. Reckner was currently pastoring the Martinsburg First Church of the Nazarene in Martinsburg, W.Va. where he had been serving since 1993. Rev. Reckner also enjoyed meeting and visiting with people. Rev. Reckner had a 22-year career with the United States Army as a Sgt. First Class and served in Vietnam as a telecommunications expert. Friends will be received at the Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton, from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Mills, a District Superintendent of The Church of the Nazarene and, Rev. Darrell Nicklow, Rev. Rcckner's brother-in-law, pastor of the Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
