Born at Marleton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marion (Clarke) Reese. A veteran of World War, II and the Korean War, Mr. Reese was a retired Army master sergeant with 22 years of service. He was the organizer of the Disabled American Veterans Post in Meyersdale and was a member of Meyersdale Post 3504, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Meyersdale Post 112, American Legion, and Fort Jackson Lodge 347, AF&M. He received the following army medals: Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (five awards), Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Arrowhead and three Campaign Stars, American Defense, Medal, National Defense Medal, Phillipine Liberation Medal with two Campaign Stars, Japanese Occupation Medal, Korean Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars, Philipine Presidential Citation and Korean Presidential Citation. He was the owner of Reese Electric Motor Service on 231 E. Salisbury Street. He is survived by his widow, Mary Jane (Shuck) Reese. Funeral services were held August 13 at the Price Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Fike officiating. Interment Union Cemetery. The Republic, August 18, 1977 [R252]
