REESE George Washington Reese died at his home in Salisbury, about 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19. He was sitting in a chair with his wife and daughter nearby and suddenly went limp, dying almost instantly. He had been in poor health for quite awhile but had been able to get around a little. He was born in Berlin on February 9, 1882, son of Winifred (Pyle) and John Reese, and was 67 years, 5 months and 10 days in age at his passing. He served in the Marine Corps during the Boxer Rebellion in China and the Philipine Insurrection. He was twice married, first to Mrs. Katherine (Menhorn) Reese, who died in 1918, and to whom all three of his children were born; and second, to Mrs. Mary (Musser) Reese, who survives. He is also survived by his children: John H. Reese of Newark, New Jersey; Marian Reese, at home, and Mrs. Elizabeth Bowman, Meyersdale, R.D. Also surviving are five sisters; Mrs. Marian Kline, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Velma King, Morgantown, W.Va.; Mrs. Pauline Murphy, Upper Darby; Mrs. Eva Keim, Elkins, W.Va., and Mrs. John C. Lichliter, Sr., Salisbury; and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in the Thomas Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday with the Rev. George E. Bowersox, Jr., pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, of which Mr. Reese was a member, officiating. Interment in the IOOF Cemetery in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas.
