Son of the late Lewis Singo and Violet Marie (Forespring) Reese. Preceded in death by his parents, son Lonnie Walker Reese and two infant daughters Cathy Ann, and Jackie Sue Reese; a brother Clarence Reese, sister Mary Tedrow and an infant sister. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Violet Walker Reese and a son Robert Reese Jr. and his wife Barbara Mapes Reese; three granddaughters Melinda Reese of Richmond, Va., Jennifer Reese of Norfolk, Va. and Victoria Snyder and husband Timothy Snyder and two great-grandchildren; Julia and Jacob Snyder from Norfolk, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Was a graduate of Rockwood Area High School class of 1933. A graduate of Juniata College. Received a Master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh class of 1959. He also attended Penn State University. He spent 40 years in education in the Rockwood Area School District. He started as a rural one-room school teacher in Black Township for a number of years. Then went to Rockwood High School where he taught English and History for several years. Later becoming elementary principal for years and finally ended as an assistant superintendent. He was a life long member of the New Centerville Church of God. He spent many years serving in various church offices. He was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and chairman of the church board. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Air Force. Member of the American Legion Post 279. Life member of disabled American veterans, member of Pennsylvania School Retirees, and member of National Retired Teachers Association. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, Somerset where a service will be conducted at I p.m. Saturday. Rev. Tim Show officiating. Interment in the IOOF Cemetery, Rockwood. Viewing will also be until the time of funeral service Saturday. Somerset Daily American, November 2003 [R275-R276]
