  Samuel E. "Gene" Reese, 82, of Berlin, formerly of Shanksville, died May
  23, 1998 at Meadow View Nursing Center.  Born June 16, 1915 in Jenners, son
  of Theodore J. and Mary E. (Neff) Reese.  Preceded in death by parents;
  first wife, the former Mary Kathryn Homer; second wife, the former Joanne
  Lambert; brother, Theodore N.; and a grandson.  Survived by these children:
  Larry of Orlando, Fla.; Pamela Russell, Harrisburg; Rebecca Withers,
  Crystal Lake, Ill., and Scott of Shanksville; 6 grandchildren and 11
  great-grandchildren.  Retired self-employed house painter.  Friends received
  from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street,
  Boswell, where service will be held at 10 am. Wednesday, Rev. Edward N.
  Corneilson offiating.  Interment, Jenner Cross Roads Cemetery.
