(Hoot) (Pappy) 07/31/06 Daily American Robert H. "Hoot," "Pappy" Reiber, 82, Portage, formerly of Bedford, died July 29, 2006, at home. Born Aug. 26, 1923, in Meyersdale, the son of Harry Sr. and Mildred (Spence) Reiber. Preceded in death my parents; wife, Leona (Folk) Reiber; brother, Harry Reiber Jr. and nephew, John Irwin. Survived by daughter, Janie, wife of Stephen B. Fleck, Portage; nieces and nephews, Charles Donaldson and Patrick Irwin, both of Monroeville, Barb Irwin and Tammy Blough, both of Murraysville, and Karen Folk, Leslie Demuth and Charles Folk Jr., all of Maryland. Bob's great-nieces and nephews are Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Donaldson, Ronald Mayer, John Mayer, Kristin Blough, Mary Beth Donaldson, Kayla Irwin, Kevin Blough and Kathleen Blough, all of Pa. Also survived by great-great-nephew, Jonathan Donaldson. Bob will be sadly missed by a group special young men called "Pappy's Boys" who were his friends and were always there to visit, help take care of him and keep him company. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Member and past Commander of Post 895 VFW. member of Post 430 American Legion and Post 150 AMVETS. Avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Retired meat cutter for the ACME Market in Bedford with 25 years of service. Former licensed beautician and sold beauty products in Bedford. Last employed by Bedford Valley Petroleum. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, Portage, where Parastas will be sung at 8:30 p.m. Monday. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Portage. Fr. James Spontak, celebrant. Military funeral rites by Portage veterans will be held at the church. Burial will be in Bedford Memorial Park.
