  GENE REMBOLD 
  
  Gene Rembold, 87, of Holbrook, Pa., formerly of Carmichaels and Nemacolin,
  died Jan. 3, 1996, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.  Rembold was
  born Nov. 11, 1908, in Pocahontas Township, Somerset County.  He was the son
  of the late John Henry and Amy Susan (Kendall) Rembold.  He was also
  preceded in death by his wife, Alice Harriet Raymond Rembold, who he
  married Aug. 29, 1929, on Oct. 6, 1982; four brothers: Jacob Rembold,
  Joseph Henry Rembold, John Leroy Rembold and Ulysses Preston Rembold; and
  three sisters: Minnie Elizabeth Howsare; Rachael Marie Tressler and Fannie
  Rembold, who died in infancy.  He is survived by two sons: Lewis Eugene
  Rembold, Jr., of Chantilly, Va.; and Charles Preston Rembold of Holbrook RD
  1, with whom he has made his home since 1982; one brother, W. Theodore
  Rembold of Pocahontas; four grandchildren: Michael, Bryan, Matt and. Brett
  Rembold, and several nieces and nephews.  Rembold had resided in the
  Carmichaels and Nemacolin areas from 1926 until moving to Stanton, Va. in
  1982.  There he made his home with his son, Charles, returning with his son
  to Greene County in 1993.  Rembold was employed as a locomotive operator
  with the Buckeye Coal Mines for 44 years prior to his retirement in 1972.
  He was a member of the United Mine Workers Local 6290, District 4, in
  Nemacolin.  Rembold was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
  Carmichaels.  He was an avid hunter and was kindly referred to as the
  "Grandfather Shuttle" for his grandchildren.  No public visitation was held.
  A memorial service was held Jan. 6 at the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. in
  Rogersville, Pa.  Rev. Roger C. Saunders officiated.  Private interment,
  Greene County Memorial Park.
