Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Joann was born March 7, 1926, in Mount Union, the daughter of the late C. Brandon and Kathleen (Longacre) Cunningham. Joann was preceded in death by her brother, Fredric Cunningham and her sister, Kay Rosenberry. She was united in marriage to John J. Remek on Nov. 23, 1950, at St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Mount Union. Her husband survives. Also surviving are a sister, Phyllis Cindric, Somerset; and many nieces and nephews. She retired in 2002 at director of the Huntingdon County Retired Service Volunteer Program (RSVP). Earlier in her life, Joann had worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Wilson Pontiac and Snow Motors, both of Mount Union and also for L. Greif Bros. Mfg., Mount Union. Joann graduated from Mount Union High School, class of 1944 and also the Central Penna. Business School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. She was a member of American Legion Post 107 Auxiliary, Mount Union. Her family was also very important to her. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, where a funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21. The Rev. Jeff Canankamp officiating. Interment will be in Mount Union Cemetery.
