DOUGLAS REYNOLDS Grantsville, Maryland Albert Swauger received a message about 9 o'clock last Monday night, March 3, telling of the death of his son-in-law, M. Douglas Reynolds, who died at his home in Johnstown after an illness of several months. His death was attributed to Hodgson's disease. Mr. Reynolds was 35 years of age. He was born at Norfolk, Va., Dec. 2, 1905, a son of the late John Reynolds and Mary Shipp Reynolds. For several years he was employed in Baltimore and moved to Johnstown in Jan. 1928, where he was connected with the Royal Typewriter Co. He became a dealer there in 1931 where he has continued to remain in business. On June 13, 1929 he married Miss Mable Viola Swauger, second daughter of Albert and the late Bertha Bittinger Swauger, and they have since made their home in Johnstown. They were frequent visitors at Grantsville however, where Mr. Reynolds became quite well known. Surviving are his wife, his mother, and two children, Lois, 10, and Jimmie, 7. Eleven brothers and sisters also survive, Mary, Anna, Ruth, Virginia and Nelia Reynolds, Baltimore, Josephine, John, Benjamin, Robert, Cecilia Reynolds, Norfolk, Va., and Jay B. Reynolds, who was associated with him in business in Johnstown. "Buckey" Reynolds, as he was known to his friends, was an ardent sports fan. He was keenly interested in the Ferndale High School athletic teams and was a member of the Johnstown Rifle Club. He was also a member of the Moxham Lutheran Church and Whalen Bible Class of Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, March 6, at the Reynolds home with the Rev. Samuel D. Sigler, pastor of the Grantsville Lutheran Church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. H. C. Michael, D.D., and Rev. Russell J. Olson, both of the Moxham Lutheran Church, Johnstown. Interment was in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers were W. E. Statler, Robert Zinkand, Merle Leighty, Roy Davis, James Wood and Harold Lenz. For the present Mrs. Reynolds has decided to continue to operate her husband's well established business herself. Albert Swauger, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Swauger went to Johnstown immediately after receiving the message. Meyersdale Republican, March 13, 1941
