Born July 21, 1924, in Somerset Township. Son of the late Ted Oliver and Frances Barbara (Halbrock) Rhoads. Also preceded in death by two infant daughters. Survived by wife, the former Phyllis Pauline Schramm, to whom he was married for 51 years, and these children: Mrs. Ronald C. (Diana) Burger of Stockbridge, Ga., and Mrs. Bruce G. (Karen) Houle of Somerset; also 4 grandchildren: Kyle and Eric Burger and Danielle and Megan Hottle. Brother of Charles F. "Chick" Rhoads of Stoystown and T. Jack Rhoads of Somerset. Member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. A 1942 graduate of Somerset High School. Member of Somerset County Coin Club and Aerie 1801, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Retired as mechanic in 1994 from Cochran Equipment Co. with 49 years of service. Navy veteran of World War II; served aboard USS O'Toole. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis A. Fetter officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
