Born July 16, 1922, in Friedens, the son of Edward Guy and Grace Irene (Miller) Rhoads. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Forrest and John Ellis Rhoads. Survived by daughters, Mrs. James J. (Suzanne) Bruzga, Mechanicsburg; and Ms. Mary Beth Rhoads, Alexandria, Va.; grandsons, Benjamin, Andrew, Philip and Joseph Bruzga; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Donna Rhoads. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school for many years, as well as being on the Church Council. A 1940 graduate of Somerset Township High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, where he had received a Purple Heart. He had worked for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1983 as a Service Plaza Manager for Exxon Mobile on the Pa. Turnpike. He was also past member of the Friedens Volunteer Fire Department and the Somerset School Board. He was a member of the Exxon Retirees. A founding member of the Tall Hunting Club in Friedens, as well as a volunteer for over 18 years for the Somerset Food Pantry. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. A service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday at the Friedens Lutheran Church, Friedens. The Rev.
