  RHODES
  
  Robert Melvin Rhodes Jr., 64, Somerset, died Aug. 19, 2000 in
  Somerset Hospital.  Born June 29, 1936 in Windber, the son of Robert
  Melvin Rhodes Sr., and Bertha Kathleen (Grow) Rhodes.  Preceded in
  death by his parents and a grandson James William Romesburg.  Survived
  by his wife, the former Sally Ann Brubaker, to whom he was married 36
  years, and these children, Robert M. Rhodes III, married to the
  former Roseanne Gentilin of Somerset, Mrs. Samuel J. (Ruth K.)
  Romesburg of Rockwood; Mrs. Matthew J. (Jennifer) Harris of
  Pittsburgh.  Also survived by three grandchildren, Abigale and Emma
  Romesburg and Griffen Rhodes.  Member of First United Methodist Church
  of Somerset, 1954 graduate of Windber High School.  U.S. Army veteran.
  Received B.S. degree in 1962 from Juniata College.  Did masters work
  at Penn State and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Biology teacher
  at Somerset Area High School where he was chairman of the Science
  Department, retiring in 1997 with 35 years of service.  Member of the
  Public School Employees Retirement System and board member of the
  Somerset County Historical and Genealogical Society where he was
  chairman of the festivals committee.  Friends received from 2-4 and
  7-9 p.m., Monday, at Hauger Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where
  services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, with the Rev. Dr.
  Arthur J. Gotjen officiating.  Interment in St. John's Cemetery.
