Born July 7, 1938, in Somerset, she is the daughter of the late Luther W. Brubaker and Ruth (Dumbauld) Brubaker, Palmyra, formerly of Somerset. She is preceded in death by her father and husband, Robert M. Rhodes II in 2000. She is survived by her mother; son, Robert M. Rhodes III and wife, Roseanne, Milford; daughters, Ruth and husband, Samuel J. Romesberg III, Rockwood; and Jennifer and husband, Matthew J. Harris, Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Griffen and Rowan Rhodes, Abby and Emma Romesberg and Maxwell and Alexandra Harris; and sister, Betty Jane "Janie" and husband, E. Dean Shaffer, Palmyra. She was a 1956 graduate of Somerset Area High School and a 1961 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's of arts degree in English. She taught English at Somerset Area Junior High School for 32 years. She was a member of the Pa. Association of School Retirees, the Johnstown Symphony Auxiliary, the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Association and the 1st United Methodist Church, Somerset. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano and spending time with her family. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Patricia Nelson officiating.
