"Pappy" Rhoten, 77, of Meyersdale RD 4 died Nov. 20, 1995, at Sacred Heart Hospital Cumberland, Md. Born Feb. 16, 1918, in Arcadia, Md., a son of the late Herbert and Laura (Reineman) Rhoten. Also preceded in death by a brother, James; two sisters: Virginia and Viola, and a grandson, John David Mankey. Survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Hazel E. Forrest, and two children: Paul Rhoten and Debra Mankey, both of Meyersdale. Also 5 grandchildren: Matthew and Michael Rhoten; David, Laura, and Joshua Mankey. Retired from the Bender Shoe Company of Somerset with 20 years of service. World War II Army veteran of Life member of the Maple Leaf Rod & Gun Club. Member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Mike Swick officiating.
