Jean Rice, 77, Somerset, died Jan. 24, 2004, at Somerset Hospital. Born July 12, 1926, in Johnstown, a daughter of Jesse James and Sylvia Mae (Davis) Cameron. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Kathy King, who died Jan. 18, 1999; daughter-in-law, Linda Ludden Rice, who died April 9, 2000; brothers James and Louis Cameron; and sister Alice Livingston. Survived by husband, Carl Leonard Rice Jr. to whom she was married 52 years; children, Mrs. Benedict G. (Marjorie A.) Vinzani Jr. of Somerset, Tim C. Rice, married to the former Diane Graham of Somerset, and James L. Rice Sr. of Garrett; son-in-law, Perry S. King of Somerset; grandchildren, Benedict G. Vinzani III, Joyce Vinzani, Timothy Rice Jr., Colin Rice, Jonathan Rice, Ryan King, Jenna King, Andrea Rice and James Rice Jr.; great-granddaughter Candra Lin Hay; and sister, Mrs. Ruth Vincent of Hughesville, Md. Member of First United Methodist Church. A 1944 graduate of Southmont High School. From 1973-1976, clerk in the Somerset County Commissioners Office; 1976-1984 Somerset County Deputy Clerk of Courts, 1984-1992 Somerset County Clerk of Courts, retiring in 1992. Member of 55 and Over Speeders, Court House Retirees Breakfast Club and an avid bingo player. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Patricia M. Nelson officiating.
