  GEORGE C. RIES 
  
  George C. Ries, 67, East Main St., Somerset, died Feb. 9, 1984, in
  Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.  He was born Oct. 15, 1916, in
  Huntingdon, a son of Walter and Permilla (Bumbargar) Ries.  He was
  preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, the former
  Elizabeth Dirienzo.  He is survived by his wife, the former Sally
  Geary; two children: Patricia, wife of Lou Bennie, Somerset; and
  Michael, Collingwood, N.J.; one stepdaughter, Kathryn Rose, Somerset;
  two grandsons; and these brothers and sisters, Mildred Testa,
  Boothwyn; Richard, New York City; Betty Lou, wife of George Steele,
  Port St. Lucie, Fla.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church,
  Somerset; Somerset Vol. Fire Dept.; life member, FOE, 1801, Somerset;
  S.S. Crouse Post, American Legion, Somerset; Fraternal Order of Elks,
  Meyersdale.  He was a veteran of World War II; was a retired coal
  broker.  Friends were received at Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home.
  Funeral services in Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. H. James Meyers
  officiating.  Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
