(Johnson) Riggs, 86, Friedens RD 1, died Jan. 27, 1990, at Somerset Hospital. Born May 16, 1903, in Ligonier Township, Westmoreland County, daughter of Edward and Anna C. (Stone) Johnson. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Eugene R., died Oct. 5, 1970; son, Dr. Robert E.; sisters, Anna Ocequeda and Alma Rose, and brothers, Carl A., Arthur N.; Carl E., Adolf E. and Edward S.; also step-grandson and one great-granddaughter. Survived by these children: Evelyn C., wife of Willard H. DM, Somerset; Sidney W., married to former Alberta Zeltner, Friedens RD 1; Laura A., wife of James P. Reed, New Florence RD 1; Nancy J., widow of Clarence R. Hay, and Mary Jo, wife of Robert B. Hall, both of Friedens RD 1; also daughter-in-law, Margaret J. Riggs, McConnellsburg; also 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Member of Zion-Hoffman Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as past choir director, Sunday school teacher and treasurer, and president of L.C.W. Past district assembly chairlady of Somerset District. L.C.W. Charter member and past president of the Seventh Society of Farm Women; past president and past treasurer of Society of Farm Women of Somerset County; president and tour director of Laurel Mountain Senior Citizens. Member of advisory council of Area Agency on Aging. Former coordinator of Meals on Wheels. Also past president of Somerset County and District 23, VFW auxiliaries. Friends were received Sunday evening and will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where Farm Women memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion-Hoffman Church, Rev. Richard A. Schlak. Interment, Ligonier Valley Cemetery. No viewing at church.
