Riggs, 81, Riggs Road, Lincoln Township, died unexpectedly Sept. 10, 2006, while vacationing in Flagstaff, Ariz. Born Aug. 21, 1925, in Ligonier Township, son of Eugene R. and Esther H. (Johnson) Riggs. Preceded in death by parents; first wife of 55 years, the former Alberta Mae Zeltner, Oct. 10, 2003; great-granddaughter, Alberta Jane Riggs; brother, Dr. Robert E. Riggs; and sister, Evelyn Uhl. Survived by wife, Elsie (Allison) Kendall-Riggs; sons, S. William, married to Mary Ann Hauger, and C. Daniel, married to Janet Marie Yingling, both of Lincoln Township; grandchildren, Daniel Jeffrey, Aaron Joseph, Ryan Eugene, Michael David and Julie Christine Riggs; and Emily Jean Korns; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Cole, Anna, Delaney, Frances, Madalyn, Isaac, Clara, Nolan, Natalie and Alexis; and sisters, Laura Reed, Ligonier; Nancy Hay and Mary Jo, married to Robert Hall, both of Lincoln Township. Also numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Navy veteran of World War II. Member of Zion-Hoffman Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served in numerous capacities. Also member of the Meyersdale Lodge 554 F&AM, Sunnehanna Country Club, Golf Club of Somerset, Great Cove Golf Club, Fortune Hills Golf Club, Pennsylvania and American Angus Associations, Somerset County Beef Producers and the Pennsylvania and National Cattlemen's Association. Longtime supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, where he was named "Man of the Year" in 2005. Also a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society. Founder and CEO of Riggs Industries, but his true passion was ErReR Hill Farms. Viewing from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Main Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion-Hoffman Church. The Rev. Kathleen A. Kuehl officiating. Interment church cemetery.
