Riley, 40 years of age, was fatally injured Thursday, evening at Sand Patch while alighting from a freight at the east end of the tunnel. He had been at Meyersdale hunting for a house and was returning home when the accident occurred. Both legs were ground off at the ankle and he died the next morning about 3 o'clock at the Allegany hospital in Cumberland where he had been taken after Drs. Lichty and Rowe had given him temporary attention in Meyersdale, the latter physician having accompanied the unfortunate man to the hospital. His wife and eight children survive.
