  John Riley Sr., 83, Hollsopple, died Nov. 14, 2001, in Conemaugh
  Memorial Medical Center.  Born April 20, 1918, in Garrett.  Predeceased
  by parents, Edward and Ellen (Jarvis) Riley; sisters, Mary Hobbs and
  Grace Fleegle; and brothers, William and Thomas.  Survived by wife of
  57 years, former Janet Playez; and son, John Jr. and wife, former
  Kathleen Cook, of Fairhope.  Brother of Evan Riley of Windber and
  Catherine Johns and husband, Thomas, of Hollsopple.  Also survived by
  numerous nieces and nephews.  Served with United States Army in World
  War II.  Retired member of Laborers' International Union of North
  America.  Member of Jerome Post 0802, American Legion. Attended St.
  Paul's United Church of Christ in Johnstown.  Family receiving friends
  from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at George E. Mason Funeral Home
  Inc., Davidsville, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
  the Rev. Dr. Robert N. Abarno.
