Ringer, 82 of St. Petersburg, Fla. died Oct. 31, 2002 at home. She was the widow of Dwane E. Ringer, former Somerset County commissioner and Confluence businessman. Survivors include daughter Beth Muir of Panama City Beach, Fla., a son, Randell of St. Petersburg, two sisters, Charlotte M. Hawthorne of Charlotte, N.C. and Frances Nell Jackson of St. Petersburg. She was born in Charlotte, N.C. She moved to St. Petersburg in 1978 from Confluence, where she lived for 33 years. She attended Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. and joined the Navy during World War II serving her country as a Wave, at Anacosta Naval Air Base. Betty was a member of Suncoast Cathedral for 23 years and was active in Women's Aglow at the local, national and international levels. She also served on the Board of Words in Life Ministries originating in Pittsburgh. A memorial service will be held Monday, at 1 p.m. at Suncoast Cathedral, 2300 52nd Avenue N., with Rev. Cortez Frazier officiating. The family will receive friends at noon until the time of service. Interment will be in Addison. In lieu of flowers the family requests that gifts be designated to the Betty M. Ringer Memorial Endowment, St. Petersburg Christian School, 2021 62nd Avenue N., St. Petersburg, Fla. 33701.
