Ringer, 71, retired Lutheran minister, died at his home, 123 South Thirty-seventh Street, following a two month illness. He had served as pastor in the Nebraska synod for 21 years, and in the Iowa synod more than 14 years. He retired Oct. 15, 1929. Born in Summit Mills, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, Dec. 10, 1859, Rev. Ringer joined the Lutheran church at Garrett, Pa. He was elected a deacon when 20 years old. In February, 1880, he went to Richardson County, Nebraska. He settled on a farm near Stella, Neb., where he became a charter member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He began preparing for the ministry at Midland College in 1892 through the influence of Rev. Paul B. Hollgreve. He was a member of the first class of Western Theological Seminary, from which he was graduated May 29, 1895. He was ordained at Wayne Sept. 29, 1895. His first pastorate was at Hardy, Neb., from June 1, 1895, to Dec. 1, 1899. He served at Wayne from the latter date until May 1, 1912, when he came to the First English Lutheran Church, Omaha, June 1, 1915, he assumed the pastorate of St. John Lutheran Church, Council Bluffs, from which position he retired Oct. 15, 1929. Rev. and Mrs. Ringer would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 3. They knew each other from childhood. He is survived by Mrs. Ringer; one daughter, Mrs. Elsie Griffith Vought, Washington, and two sons, Martin Luther Ringer, Wayne, and Walter Harry Ringer, Omaha. At the time of his death he was a trustee of Tabitha Home board, Lincoln, Neb. Omaha Bee, April 30. Meyersdale Republican, May 28, 1931
