Born Sept. 12, 1916 in Confluence, a son of Joseph Fox and Mary Jane (Bowlin) Roberts. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Gladys Fike. Survived by wife, the former Freda Mae Miller, to whom he was married 61 years; daughter, Mrs. Edward (Connie) Malloy of Mechanicsville, Va.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Ryan (Kara) Gallaher of Richmond, Va., and Miss Lisa Malloy of Richmond, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Calvary United Methodist Church. World War II veteran of U.S. Army Air Corp, served as a Corporal. Member of VFW Post 554. He was a truck driver for Gilmours Somerset Gasoline Co. from 1938-1966 and retired maintenance man for U.S. Postal Service in Johnstown and Somerset. Past president of Rockwood Senior Citizens. He was well known for playing Santa Claus at many civic and social functions at Christmas time. He was active in starting the Rails to Trails and the Casselman River Watershed Association. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Somerset. Rev. Raymond E. Lyon officiating. No viewing at the church. Interment Casebeer Cemetery. Graveside military rites accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard.
