Born May 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Menno and Minnie (Yoder) Hershberger. On December 9, 1959, she married Rev. Robert C. Roberts, who died April 3, 1968. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Alvin and Ray Hershberger; seven sisters: Annie Beachy, Ivy Hershberger, Freda Yommer, Ada Swartzentruber, Mabel Yoder, Ruth Tice and Edna Yoder. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Jeanne Higginbotham and husband Jim, of Fernandine Beach, Fla.; two grandsons: Max and David Standel; one great-granddaughter; one stepson, Branson Roberts, Collegeville; four step-daughters: Dorothy Alcorn, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; Thelma Sunberg, Joann Sheetz, and Lois Howard, Quincy, Mass.; 21 step-grandchildren; 43 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lela Bender, Grantsville, Md.; two sisters-in-law: Grace Hershberger, Springs; and Mary Jane Hershberger, Kalona, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of God's Ark of Safety Ministry. For a number of years she was a dormitory supervisor at Gallaudet College for the deaf, Washington, D.C. More recently, she was a caregiver for elderly people. At Grace's request, she donated her body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board, Baltimore, Md. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. on Friday, July 23 at the Maple Glen Mennonite Church, Dorsey Hotel Rd., Grantsville, Md. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
