"Fat" 04/22/05 Daily American Eugene H. "Fat" Rock, 78, Lavansville, died April 19, 2005, at his home after living with Parkinson's disease for 15 years. Born Sept. 28, 1926, in Lavansville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lulu (Pyle) Rock; brothers, George, Lloyd, Alvin, Dalton and Dewain Rock and sisters, Mabel Miller, Edith Stutzman, Ruth Hutzell and Dorothy Bruner. He is survived by loving wife, Ruby Shaulis Rock, to whom he was married 57 years; daughter, Cynthia Dlugolecki and husband, Paul, Mechanicsburg; son, Gregory and wife, Marjorie, Garrett; son, Harold and wife Diane, Lavansville; daughter, Beverly Spangler and husband, Eric, Somerset Township; 13 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Elmer Miller, Roxbury; husband of sister, Mabel; and numerous nieces and nephews. This caring husband and father was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Lavansville. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. A member of American Legion and was a truck driver for Interstate Truck Service for approximately 50 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 407 Cleveland, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. The Rev. Sherman H. Berkey officiating. Viewing at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Somerset County Memorial Park.
