Born March 13, 1923 in Johnstown, a son of Joseph and Catherine (Kosmatine) Rogel. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Carl and Francis and sister, Rosella Stigers. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen (Dzura) Rogel; daughter, Pani Kathleen, wife of the Very Rev. Robert A. Buczak of Homestead. A brother of Fred Rogel and wife, Nannette, South Africa; brother-in-law, Joseph Dzura of Darlington; sister-in-law, Helen Cicmansky of Elton and numerous nieces and nephews. A US Navy veteran of World War II. Former coal miner of Reitz 5 and retired employee of Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown - Rod and Wire Mill. Member and former treasurer of S.N.P.J. Lodge 749. Also a member of Windber VFW and American Legion. Member of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Windber, where Joseph was a former choir member. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. Brief services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 9:30 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Windber. Metropolitan Nicholas pre-siding. Burial at church cemetery. Parastas will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Windber in Joseph's memory.
