Rogers, 87, Ashland, Ohio, died at the Ashland Samaritan Hospital Saturday morning. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., Nov. 30, 1892, the son of Clarence and Sarah (Moore) Rogers. He had resided in Ashland, Ohio, since the fall of 1978, coming there from Akron, Ohio. A retired employee of the Atlantic Refining Company, he retired in 1957. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and Washington Masonic Lodge No, 253 of Pittsburgh, Pa. A member of Akron Tadmor Temple, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Ashland County Shrine Club. A veteran of WW I, he fought in the battle of the Argonne Forest. On Nov. 19, 1919, he was married to Sue Marie Younkin, who survives him. He Is also survived by two sons, Calvin Y. Rogers, Ashland, Ohio, and Glenn J. Rogers, Lake Charles, La.; one sister, Mts. Melva Casler, Largo, FLa.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services 3 p.m. Tuesday from the DenbowPrimm Funeral Home, Ashland, Ohio. Burial will be in the Addison Cemetery, Somerset County, Pa., where a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Dr. Arthur J. Gotjen, Confluence, officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity. Daily American, January 22, 1980 [R839]
