She was born May 4, 1917 in Meyersdale, a daughter of the late William and Nellie (Weimer) Knepp. Preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Halle, and her second husband Robert Rogers. Also preceded in death by her beloved sister Alverta Amtower. Lavada is survived by her daughter Wanetta, wife of Walter Lohr, Garrett; and two grandchildren: Josetta, wife of Joseph Lichty, State College; and David Lohr, Garrett. Four great grandchildren: Jordan Lichty, State College; Jessica Lichty, State College; Matthew Lohr, Gambrills, MD; and Katie Lohr, Gambrills. Also survived by her niece Carley (Hosselrode) Welsh, and her husband Kenneth, Wellersburg. Lavada was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersdale, where she was active in their quilt ministry. Friends were received 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday in the Women's Parlor of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersdale, followed by a service of the Holy Sacrament to celebrate Lavada's life at 12:15 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Frank E. Harpster III officiated. Interment followed at the Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may make gifts to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lavada's memory. Arrangements by the William Rowe Price Funeral Home, Inc., Meyersdale.
