  MERLE E. ROMESBERG
  
  Merle E. Romesberg, 88, Rockwood, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 27,
  2004, at Somerset Hospital.  Born Nov. 19, 1915, in Black Township, he is
  the son of the late Ephraim and Mayme (Swearman) Romesberg.  He is preceded
  in death by his parents, brother Wilbur Romesberg and sisters Della
  Romesberg, Helen Forsythe, and Mary Ringer.  He is survived by his wife of
  58 years Dorothy (Shaffer) Romesberg; daughter Nancy, married to Harry
  Tunstall Jr., Rockwood, sons Merle Jr. married to the former Hazel Beck and
  Larry, both of Rockwood; grandchildren Gregory, married to Sherry Tunstall,
  Marsha, married to Ron Schmuck Jr. and Merle Romesberg III; and
  great-grandchildren Sheena, Nathan, Christopher, and Breanna Tunstall, and
  Brandon and Caitlyn Schmuck.  He is the brother of Luella Ogle, Betty
  Clarke, Elaine Johnson and Paul, Floyd and Ephraim J. Romesberg.  He was a
  veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II who then farmed in Black Township
  for many years.  He was also fond of carpentry and hunting.  He was a member
  of St. Paul's Ridge United Church of Christ in Beachdale where he taught
  Sunday School and was a deacon, elder, and current treasurer.  Friends are
  invited from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at
  Miller Funeral Home, Rockwood.  A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday
  at Rockwood United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Randall Bain and Warren
  Sterner officiating.  There is one hour visitation prior to the service.
  Interment at Rockwood IOOF Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be sent to
  the American Heart Association, 400 Luray Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15904-2538.
