Born Jan. 27, 1917, in Buckton, Warren County, Va., he is the son of the late Frank and Sadie (Wercheniser) Romesberg. Also preceded in death by Helen Louise "Penny" (Pennman) Romesberg, his wife of 50 years, in 1992, and by four brothers and three sisters. Survived by children, Steven L. Romesberg, with whom he resided and Penny R. Hughes and husband, Kenneth, and grandchildren: Jennifer R. Lohin and husband, Michael, and Eric D. Hughes, all of Hyndman; brothers, Thomas Romesberg, Hyndman; Abraham Romesberg, Ohio; and sisters, Christine Winestein, N.Y.; and Rebecca Romesberg, Ga. Mr. Romesberg attended Rockwood High School. A U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He operated lumber businesses in Buckstown and Hyndman for a number of years. He was employed by the B&O Railroad and later he worked for the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in Liberia, West Africa. He loved music and he was especially fond of the wonders of nature and the wildlife that shared his family's farm. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, where a funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. The Rev. Julie Applegate and the Rev. Ken Korns officiating. Interment will be in Cooks Mill Cemetery, Hyndman. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be sent to the Hyndman Area Health Center, Hyndman, the Palo Alto United Methodist Church, Hyndman or the Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie, Md. 10/15/2004 Daily American
