Rose, 74, 438 Broad St., Chambersburg, a former Somerset County resident, died Oct. 9, 1986, at Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 27, 1912, son of the late Ralph and Mrytle (Shull) Rose. Preceded in death by one son, one sister and one granddaughter. Survived by wife, the former Maud Virginia Gilson; one son, Joseph E. Rose Sr. of Fayetteville, Pa.; one brother, three sisters: George Rose of Bedford; Dorothy Bowser of Akron, Ohio; Betty Barney and Hazel Seymour, both of Everett; two stepbrothers and two stepsisters: Clark Rose of Redmond, Ore.; Donald Rose of Breezewood; Frances Bagley of DuBois; June Stickle of Wolfsburg; two grandchildren; two step- grandchildren. Retired PennDOT worker at the Chambersburg plant and was a security guard with Wilson College, Chambersburg. Member of Chambersburg Bible Church. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Park-Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. Chapel service at 1 p.m. Monday, Bedford County Memorial Park, with interment to follow.
