Rose, Sr., 66, 800 Menoher Blvd., died Nov. 30, 1988, at home. He was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Johnstown, son of late Harry and Myrtle (Brinker) Rose. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Tressa Trimel; brothers: Harry, Calvin and Clarence; and sisters: Violet Miller, Gladys Crawford, Mildred Moore and Dorothy Fabina. He is survived by widow, former Kathleen G. Miller, and these children: Sylvester Jr., Rohnert Park, Calif.; Raymond, married to former Emma Jane Wagner, Johnstown; Susan, wife of Kenneth Wiltrout, Rockwood; Dennis, married to former Lori Osterline, Pittsburg, Calif.; Betsy, wife of Robert Fatula, Nanty Glo; Miss Georgianne; Jeffrey, married to former Patricia Bell; Roxanne, wife of Scott Bryan; and Gregory W., all of Johnstown; and Barbara, wife of the Rev. Ulric Muller, Freedhold, N.Y.; also 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Theodore and Robert, both of Johnstown; Leonard, Erie; Delores Stiles, Elton; Daisy Marek, Johnstown; and Erma Grillo, New Florence. He was employed for 23 years in car shop division of Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp.; U.S. Army veteran of World War II; awarded Purple Heart; member of DAV. Friends were received at The Picking - Treece - Bennett Mortuary Inc., where services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Paul Sparrer. Interment Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
