Ross, 77, Friedens RD 2, died March 14, 1973, in Somerset Community Hospital, of injuries received Feb. 19 in an automobile accident. Born Oct. 30, 1895, in Bedford County, he was a son of Edmund C. and Maggie (Spangler) Ross. He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife, the former Verde Mae Beeghley; three sons, two sisters and a grandson. Surviving are five children: Kenneth E. Ross, Friedens RD 2; Mrs. William (Dorothy) Rhodes, Altoona; Mrs. Leroy (Shirley) Yutzey, Meyersdale; Mrs. Charles (Maxine) Barron and Donald Ross, both of Somerset; also 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was a retired Stonycreek Township farmer, a member of Rayman Church of the Brethren, director of Somerset Rural Electric Association, member of Somerset Rotary Club, and a past director and member of Somerset County Holstein Association. In 1969, he was named Somerset County's Mr. Holstein of the Year. Funeral service was conducted Saturday afternoon in the Brotherton Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Kenneth R. Blough officiating, assisted by Rev. Marlin A. Miller. Interment in Walker Cemetery, Shanksville. Meyersdale Republican, March 22, 1973 [R991]
