OAKS

  Margaret Oaks Ross, 95, of Lincoln Highway, Central City, died Aug. 7, 1998, 
at Windber Medical Center. Born Aug. 2, 1903, in Lavansville. Daughter of George 
and Ida (Dickey) Hoover. Preceded in death by parents; husbands, Herman L. Oaks 
and Cletus E. "Bucky" Ross; daughters, Betty Jane Oaks and Jo Ann Matse; sisters 
Gladys Spriggs, Jennie Mae Beeman and Myrtle Bell; brothers Royden and Earl 
Hoover. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by 
these children: Robert Oaks, married to the former Naomi Reckner, Jerome; Terry 
"Shuta" Oaks, married to the former Betty Thomas, of Hollsopple; Billie Sue 
Zapolosky, with whom she resided; and Jack Oaks, married to the former Marion 
Koffman, Cairnbrook; and son-in-law George Matse of Boswell; 14 grandchildren 
and 24 great-grandchildren. She was a former waitress at the former Hite Hotel 
in Stoystown and White Star Hotel in Jennerstown. Family will receive friends 
from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, 
Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. James 
McCormick officiating. Interment, Glade Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions 
may be given to Graef's Lutheran Church, Cairnbrook, Pa. 15924.
