ROBERT W. ROSS

  Robert W. Ross of Friedens, R.D., died Sunday morning in the Somerset 
Community Hospital after a brief illness, in his 74th year.  He was born in 
Berlin, in July 1873, a son of Jacob and Amanda (Kidner) Ross.  He was a retired 
monument dealer having served his apprenticeship with the late Robert Koontz, of 
Berlin, starting at the age of 15 and working at his trade in Berlin for many 
years.
  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Matilda (Speisa) Ross and the following 
children; Robert Ross of York, Wm. Ross of Dallastown, Mrs. Ella Raab and Mrs. 
Cora Horning of Red Lion, Ernest Ross of Meyersdale, Mrs. Bessie Miller of 
Airville, and Mrs. Marie Wentz of North Dakota; also by a sister, Mrs. Margaret 
Baer of Meyersdale, and two brothers, Jacob and George Ross, of Berlin, and 
eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He was a member of the Brethren 
Church.
  Funeral services were conducted at the Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 
5th, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. S. M. Whetstone officiating.  Interment in the I.O.O.F. 
Cemetery, Berlin.
