Rowe, of 259 Second St. E., Nokomis, Fla. died Sunday, Nov. 5, 1978 at Venice Hospital. He was 73. The Rev. Rowe was a mission developer and the first pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Venice, serving from 1960 to 1971. Born in Pennsylvania, he came to the South County area from Mechanicsburg. He was first chaplain of Venice Hospital, a post he served for four years. The Rev. Rowe began his clerical career in 1932 as pastor of the Garrett Charge in Somerset County, where he served until 1940. He was pastor from 1940-60 of the Trindle Spring Lutheran Church. A graduate of Susquehanna University, Class of 1929, he then attended Gettysburg Theological Seminary where he graduated with the Class of 1932. He leaves his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Sara Jane Basehore of Mechanicsburg, and Donna Marie Stone of Lititz, three grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Rowe of Millerstown, and John Rowe of Mexico, and one sister, Mrs. George Haubert of Mexico. Pa. Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. William G. Moeser officiating. Burial was at Trindle Spring Cemetery in Mechanicsburg Farley Funeral Home, Venice, was in charge of arrangements. The Republic, November 23, 1974 [R1036]
