She was born April 28, 1887 in Meyersdale, daughter of the late William H. and Emma (Troutman) Habel. Also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence F., in 1959. She is survived by one niece, Mrs. Althea Philson of Meyersdale, and a nephew, W.H. Habel, of Lancaster; and seven great-nieces and nephews. She was a life-member of Amity United Church of Christ and was a member of the choir and the Helping Hands Sunday School Class; member of the Somerset Eastern Star, the Meyersdale Civic League, the Meyersdale Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Women's Club and the Meyersdale Public Library Board of Directors. She was the first woman in Somerset County to receive a driver's license. Friends were received at the Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where services were held with the Rev. Lloyd Sechriest officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery. The Republic, November 6, 1982 [R1040]
