He was 56 years of age, and was born in Meyersdale, the son of the late Frederick Rowe and Mrs. Clara Rowe. His wife, Mary McDevitt Rowe, passed away in April, 1943. He leaves two sons, Frederick Earle, Jr., Lieutenant (j.g.), serving in the Navy somewhere in the South Pacific; Joseph, 15, at home, and one daughter, Pat, 17, at home. Besides his mother, who is spending the winter in California, he is survived by six brothers and one sister - Clyde J., Westernport, Md., Clarence, Meyersdale, now employed in Akron, O.; Harry W., Mt. Lebanon, Pa.; Llewellyn, Oak Park, Ill.; Ralph, Chicago, Ill.; and Frank, Los Angeles, Cal., and Clara, wife of Herbert Tubbs, Miami Springs, Fla. Mr. Rowe was a graduate from Meyersdale High School, attended Tome School for Boys, Port Deposit, Md., and Wesleyan University, Conn. He taught school, 9th grade, in the local school and also held a teaching position in Scottdale. He then went into the coal business with his father and brothers in the firm of C. J. Rowe and Brothers. Later he moved to Philadelphia where he engaged in the real estate business for a number of years. For the past ten years he was a member of the Philadelphia Board of Real Estate Assessors. Funeral services were conducted at the Oliver Baer Funeral Home, Philadelphia, on Monday, Jan. 15, where a host of friends paid their last respects. There were many beautiful floral tributes. He was laid to rest in a Philadelphia cemetery. Mr. Rowe was a devoted family man. He provided his family with a beautiful home in Overbrook, a residential suburb of Philadelphia, where he and his two younger children have continued to live since the death of Mrs. Rowe, expecting to keep the home until the return of their son serving in the Navy. The young wife of Lt. Rowe, who has been living in Dallas, Texas, came as soon as notified of the death of her father-in-law, and is remaining with the young sister and brother until plans for them can be made. Other close relatives who went to Philadelphia to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rowe, Meyersdale; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rowe, Mt. Lebanon; and Mrs. Herbert Tubbs, Miami Springs, Fla.
