Rowe, Jr., son of Llewellyn H. and Edith (Gurley) Rowe of Oak Park, Ill., was laid in his final resting place in Union Cemetery here, Saturday, April 24, his body having been brought from its temporary interment overseas by the U.S. Army. He was the grandson of the late Frederick Rowe and Mrs. Frederick Rowe, who is now living in Miami, Fla. His maternal grandfather was the late Tom Gurley, Meyersdale merchant for many years. Llewellyn was born in Meyersdale, February 4, 1921. In his early childhood, the family moved to Oak Park, Ill., where in 1938 he was graduated from the Oak Park-River Forest High School. During 1938-40 he attended Oberlin College, O., and from 1940 to 1942 he was a student of engineering at Illinois Tech, where he enlisted in the Air Corps Reserve. In March, 1943, he was called for active duty. He received basic training in Air Corps and completed Army Student Training program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, April 1, 1944. Then he was assigned to the Infantry. In July, 1944, he married Dorothy F. Cotta in Oak Park. On October 13, 1944, he left for overseas duty, serving with the 78th Division of the First Army. On March 15, 1945, he was killed in action in Germany near the Remagen Bridge. Burial arrangements here were in charge of W. C. Price & Son, and a short funeral service was held at the Price Funeral Home, in charge of Rev. Floyd Gotjen, pastor of the Methodist Church. Attending the funeral were the young soldier's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Llewellyn H. Rowe; his brother, Richard Rowe, and his friend, Miles Frazier, of Oak Park, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Rowe, Westenport, Md.; Clarence Rowe, Akron, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rowe, Harry Rowe, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boye, Pittsburgh; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gurley, Philadelphia, and Mr. and Mrs. Kear Hoskins, Frostburg, Md., all of whom were guests of the Clarence Rowe's.
