Ruffner, 84, of Youngwood, Pa., died Jan. 13, 1998, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Born March 4, 1913, in Greensburg, Ruffner was the son of the late James W. and Anna M. (Smith) Ruffner. In addition to his parents, Ruffner was preceded in death by three sisters, Maude Eicher, Ruth Hutchinson and Florence Ruffner. He is survived by his wife, Frances Menhorn Trout Ruffner, formerly of Meyersdale; a son, Lawrence R. Ruffner and wife, Shirley, of Tans, Pa; three stepchildren: James E. Trout and John L. Trout, both of New Stanton, and Sharon E. Stoner of Hunker, Pa.; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Dean of Greensburg, and a brother, Robert Ruffner of Youngwood. Ruffner was a retired employee of Walworth Valve Co. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and a former member of the Youngwood Auxiliary Police. Interment, Westmoreland County Memorial Park. New Republic, January 22, 1998 [R1079]
