Born Aug. 30, 1921, in Confluence a son of the late Lloyd and Ida (Pletcher) Rugg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Louise (Tressler) Rugg, Jan. 29, 1992 and an infant son, Charles Edward Rugg in November 1946. He is survived by a son Clark and his wife Sherrie of Central City; a daughter Nancy C. Ulrich and her husband Val of Morgantown, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Edward Rugg, Shari Saler, Jeri Williams, Cody Rugg, Patrick Ulrich and Gretchen Ulrich; nine great grandchildren; a brother Franklin and his wife Ethel of Confluence and sisters, Dorothy Shimko, Grace Johnson and husband Paul and Ruth Prinkey and husband Raymond, all of Normalville; also nieces and nephews. He retired as a supervising electrical journey lineman. He was Protestant by faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served aboard the USS John Henley. A life member of Confluence VFW Post 7250; and Ursina American Legion Post 946. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m., today and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, with Pastor Richard Smith officiating.
