Rummel, 86, Hollsopple R.D. 1, died evening of July 3, 1980, at Somerset Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1893, in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, son of John W. and Sadie (Zimmerman) Rummel. He was preceded in death by parents and several sisters and brothers. He is survived by widow, former Cora G. Gashaw, and these children: Sara R., wife of Paul Speicher, Pittsburgh; Mary Jane, wife of Herald Griffith, Modesto, Calif.; Dr. David, married to former Wanda McCart, Prescott, Ariz.; and Dr. John, married to former Elaine Brittingham, Houston, Tex.; also 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Brother of Winetta, Confluence, and Dr. Paul, Lancaster. Member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren. He was a graduate of Juniata College and Rutgers School of Banking. He was a former manager and cashier at banks in Hooversville, Boswell and Jerome. He was the former treasurer of Hillman Coal & Coke Co., Pittsburgh, and treasurer of Western Pennsylvania District of Church of the Brethren for 15 years. Ordained in 1922 and served many area Churches of the Brethren as elder and minister. He taught school in Conemaugh Township for a number of years. He celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary May 22, 1980. Friends were received at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell. Funeral services were held at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Carroll S. Ringgold and the Rev. Dr. John D. Ellis. Interment, church cemetery. The Republic, July 10, 1980 [R1134]
