(Somerset, Pa.): January 20, 1892 John J. Seese, an old resident of Paint township, died on Tuesday afternoon from dropsy, after an illness of several years. He was conscious until his death. About fifteen years ago he got into a dispute with a neighbor named Jacob Rose, and in a fit of anger he seized a stick of wood and struck Rose over the head, fracturing his skull, from which death ensued shortly after. He was tried and convicted of murder in the second degree and sentenced to seven years in the penitentiary. Since the expiration of his term, about eight years ago, be has been living a retired life at his home in Paint township, and re-established himself in the esteem of his neighbors.
