Hull. Mr. Shaffer partook of a hearty meal Saturday evening and retired at the usual hour without complaining of feeling sick. He was about 75 years of age. He had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Hull for several years. His wife, two sons, Noah, of Edie, and Ephraim, of Jefferson township, and three daughters: Mrs. Hull, and Mrs. Wilson Barron, of Jefferson township, and Catherine, who resides in Ohio, survive him. Deceased was widely known as "Dr. Shaffer” on account of his alleged knowledge of the healing arts. The Somerset Herald Wed Apr 05 1899 Doctor Daniel Shaffer, notice of whose death appeared in last week's Herald, was called to Westmoreland county on the preceding Wednesday to treat a patient. He was sick at the time, but responded to the summons. When he returned to the home of his son-in-law, Rev. Robt. T. Hull, in Jefferson township, on the following Friday, he took to his bed and lingered until 9 o'clock Saturday night, when he expired.
