Born February 2, 1896 in Bedford County. A son of Ralph and Olive (Chisholm) Salkeld. He is survived by his wife, the former Elsie McClintock and the following step-children, Mrs. Hilda Callen of Chester; Mrs. Shirley Hand of Phenix City, Ala.; Norman Holliday of Jacksonville, Fla.; Dexter Holliday of Tampa, Fla.; Larry and Randy Holliday of Confluence; the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Bess Floto of Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Leah Bluebaugh of Berlin and Allen of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Estella Lohr, one brother, William and one sister, Mrs. Jane McClintock. He was a veteran of World War I Company C., Somerset barracks, Ursina Legion for 53 years, Knights of Pythias, past member of the Confluence Borough Council, past commander of the Legion, music instructor Somerset County School District, Baltimore Life Insurance agent. He worked for the Devilbiss Company and former justice of the peace. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Monday (today) at the Humbert Funeral Home Confluence, where services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Richard McClintock officiating.
